Bird Weekly #24

This week we are sharing photos of birds that are hunted/consumed. I do eat meat but I could never hunt and I am glad my husband doesn’t either. I understand that hunting is needed for certain types of animals like deer whose populations can get too large but I am glad there are others who take care of this as it would be too difficult for me to do.

This sweet dove made a nest on our front door wreath not once but twice this past spring. Her mate was always nearby.

If you would like to join in on this week’s challenge – you can get the info here – https://oureyesopen.blog/2020/11/20/bird-weekly-photo-challenge-hunted-or-consumed-by-humans/

  1. Oh what a sweet photo of your dove! We have so many that they can be annoying. But they are really a cute bird if you look at them with the right perspective. I love your top photo!

  2. That is a lovely photo of the dove in the nest with the flowers in the foreground. Wonderfully framed! I totally agree with you on the hunting part. My sister hunts deers, hogs and birds. I tease her when I have 20 mourning doves at my feeder. She shot a doe this past weekend! They eat everything they kill, so for them it sets them up for almost a whole year. 🙂

      1. Yes we do! She is a natural blonde and I’m a natural brunette. She is chunky and I’m thin-ish. Age is drooping on me at this point. LOL!
Same mom and dad. We like similar things too like baseball and American football. It certainly does make the world go around. 🙂

  3. Really fun to have dives nesting near your home
And the photo with the bit of nest and flowers is really clear and let’s us see a dove in a way we normally do not get to see – so nice
