I will be in and out over the next month with a little work and a little travel, plus other stuff (all good). I’ll probably get a chance to like and comment on your photos, but not sure how much I will be posting. See you soon!

I don’t have a lot of door photos – here are 2 that I found in my archives.
Doors in Williamsburg, VA decorated for Christmas
Excellent buffet barbecue place in Santee, NC. We are always on the look out for good barbecue during our travels.

This week, Ann Christine is hosting the Lens Artists challenge. I can think of many events such as the birth of my children, grandchildren, holiday celebrations and on and on. I decided to highlight travels instead. We had the opportunity to go to Rincon, Puerto Rico in 2013 and 2016 with our daughter and S-I-L. I’d love to go back again but I’m not sure we will get the chance. Both of these vacations were the most relaxing we have ever had. Must have had something to do with Island Time. The people were gracious and friendly and there was beauty amid poverty. The first 2 photos show what I mean.
We spent a lot of time at the beach. The palm tree in the next photo was there both times. I thought it would be gone on our 2016 visit.
There is quite a problem with stray dogs although it seemed better with the second visit. This dog looked quite happy and healthy plus there was a collar, so I hope it was just having fun with it’s humans.
Route 413 is the main highway that goes around the perimeter of the entire island. I think the slogan on their highway sign sums it up.

This week on Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge we are showing the way to go. The first photo was taken from an upper path on Skyline Drive in Fall 2021. Driving on Skyline Drive is a piece of cake compared to biking.
The next photo was also taken in fall 2021. This road is going straight to the mountains.
The last photo takes us to my favorite place – the beach.

We visited the Houston Space Center in 2017 and Kennedy Space center in 2018. Both were very interesting, with Kennedy being more comprehensive. The photos below show some of our early space travel. We have come such a long way, but even then, the technology was amazing.
The first is a Lunar Training Vehicle (aka Moon Buggy) which was used on earth to train the astronauts. The “real” ones were driven on the moon in the Apollo missions of 1971 and 1972.
Next is the Mercury 9 “Faith 7”. Piloted by Gordon Cooper, Faith 7 flew May 15-16, 1963, and was in orbit for 34 hours, 19 minutes and 49 seconds, orbiting the Earth 22.5 times. With that flight, Cooper set the record at the time for spaceflight by an American.
Last is the Apollo 8 Firing Room. These are the actual consoles used during the 1968 mission.
If you ever get a chance to see either of these space centers, they are well worth the price of admission.

This was a busy year for us. We welcomed a new grandson in December 2020 (close enough to 2021), bought a lot, sold our home of 33 years, moved into a one bedroom apartment and started construction on our new home. Also – I decided that this was the best time to have a total knee replacement before we move into our new place. While my images may not be the best photographically (is that a word?), they represent 2021 for me.
First the grandkids:
New grandson
Our grandson and granddaughter playing in our backyard for the last time
Swings in the backyard that provided entertainment for young and old
Our home of 33 years – sold in April 2021.
Construction started on the new home in December 2021. Now we just have to deal with delays/price increases in getting windows, doors, sheetrock, appliances etc., etc. Despite everything, I think we are going to enjoy the new home. It’s one story and less square footage. The location is beautiful, quiet and much closer to our children and grandchildren.. There is a marina down the street so I’m hoping there’s a boat in our future. Also, we are on the 13th fairway which I choose to believe will be lucky 🙂
