Cee’s Mid-week challenge this time is Macro. The picture below is one that I took for a topic based Flickr group I’m in called Macro Mondays – silver coins from back in the day.
This week’s challenge is comparing photos that are color and converted to black and white. The first 2 photos were taken at the beach last month. I am a fan of beach photos in b/w or sepia.
The next ones are of a plant. My preference on this one is the color but the b/w brings out the detail nicely.

I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus with posting. We just received a contract on our house so we’ve been preoccupied with all that goes with those activities. I’m sure I’ll have some additional times where I am in and out. Anyway, for this week’s challenge I decided to post this photo of a mockingbird. They are not very colorful so I think the b/w lends itself nicely to these birds.
This week we are sharing photos that may have been “throw-aways” if not for some editing. When there is something about a photo I like but don’t like it in the current state I usually try monotone edits or something in Topaz like a texture. Here are a few examples of before and after

This week Lisa of Our Eyes Open is asking us to share pictures of the same bird in color and mono. I have picked this owl that I photographed at the Alligator Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina. I love the feather markings which lend nicely to a monotone image.

It had been raining for a few days so I decided to take advantage of it and catch a few droplets on pansies.
