Lens Artist Challenge 114 – Negative Space

I have been enjoying everyone’s photos while recovering from back surgery related to stenosis. For the first few days after surgery – I questioned having it done but I believe I am moving beyond that now. I still have some pain and limitations but hopefully both will be gone over the next 12 weeks. This week – Amy has encouraged us to share photos that depict negative space.

Here is the link if you want to join in –

My first photo shows a pier with nothing around but water and the dramatic sky. I love seeing weather form on beaches.

The next photo is a dreamy capture of my granddaughter cresting a sand dune on one of the beaches in Hatteras, NC.

Next are flowers from our yard against a white background. The vase holding the flowers is near 100 years old and designed specifically for gladiola.

Last is a cormorant sitting on a post. This was taken on a previous trip to Florida. I’m pretty pleased with it since it was taken from a moving boat.

I hope everyone has a great week!!

  1. Thank you so much for joining us while you’re recovering from your surgery. The first image of the sky is dramatic, beautifully captured. The photo of your granddaughter is my favorite. Hope you’ll feel better soon.

  2. So sorry to hear about your surgery Nora – hope it’s going to bring you major relief! Wishing you a quick and easy recovery. Loved your images, especially your daughter on the beach. Feel better!

  3. I hope you have a complete recovery, Nora and that you can soon enjoy your improved mobility. Your collection is perfect for the challenge! They are all beautifully captured.

  4. Hi nora – I love the way the photos flowed in the post- as a series they were fantastic – and each one individually had a certain mood – and also reminded me of the rule of thirds and some ideas for color in the last too.
Enjoyable selections for nature and beach mood too!
